A first Rockwatch fieldtrip to the Frodingham Ironstone Quarry near Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.

Join Susan Brown of Rockwatch and geologist Paul Hildreth to explore a site that was a quarry as early as Roman times.

We start the day with a short look at the use of the local ironstone as a building stone, then drive to the quarry itself for a spot of fossil hunting.  At the end of the day, Paul Hildreth will be showing his display of fossils at Scunthorpe Museum where we will have a debrief and a look at our finds.
