Fossils & Fun at Lyme Regis Fossil Festival 2026

What a fantastic weekend we had at the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival!

It was wonderful to meet so many young geologists and their families as thousands of visitors descended on the Jurassic Coast to celebrate fossils, dinosaurs and all things geology.

Throughout the weekend, the Rockwatch stand was buzzing with activity. Young visitors handled real fossils, tested their geological knowledge with games and activities, got creative with crafts, and brought along their own finds for identification. We loved hearing about everyone’s discoveries and sharing our passion for rocks, fossils and Earth science.

Across the festival there was something for everyone, from fascinating talks and guided fossil walks to hands-on exhibits, workshops and family activities. Lyme Regis truly came alive with science, discovery and curiosity around every corner.

One of the many highlights was spotting a dinosaur joining in with the festivities — and even taking part in some Morris dancing! It certainly wasn’t something you see every day and brought plenty of smiles to faces young and old.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, took part in our activities, or shared their geological adventures with us. Special thanks also to the festival organisers and the many volunteers who helped make the weekend such a success.

We’re already looking forward to next year!
