Please join the GA Zoom workshop on Geological Collections

Geologists' Association
Virtual Zoom Meeting Saturday June 19th 2021 from 7pm-9pm
Please join the GA Zoom workshop on Geological Collections. Presented by Dr Caroline Buttler and a team from National Museum Wales in Cardiff.
Collecting rocks and fossils often sparks an interest in geology, whether it is as a child or an adult, the questions raised about Deep-time and how things were in the past fascinate us. Geological collections are found in many of our museums and universities but also in our garages and shoe boxes.
This workshop will aim to cover a wide range of topics including; collecting responsibly, reporting your finds and asking for help, labelling and cataloguing, caring for your collection, ethics, hazards and legacy. In order to make this as interactive as possible using Zoom, we’ll use a mixture of PowerPoint slides and group discussions, with plenty of opportunity for questions.
The workshop will be presented by staff from Natural Sciences Department, Amgueddfa Cymru, National Museum Wales in Cardiff:
Dr Caroline Buttler – Head of Palaeontology
Dr Jana Horak – Head of Mineralogy/Petrology
Cindy Howells – Palaeontology Curator and
Tom Cotterell – Mineralogy
