Summer is one of the best times to get outside, explore amazing places and discover geological wonders. While many of this year’s Rockwatch field trips have already sold out, there are still a few exciting opportunities to join us before the summer comes to an end.
Whether you’re an experienced fossil hunter or just beginning your geological journey, our remaining events offer something for every young geologist and their family.

🦖 Staithes, North Yorkshire
Explore one of Britain’s most spectacular fossil-hunting coastlines, famous for Jurassic rocks, ammonites and incredible coastal scenery.
🧪 GeoLab & Stevenage Museum, Hertfordshire
Get hands-on with exciting geology experiments before heading out to discover the building stones and geological history of Stevenage on a guided trail to the museum.
🌊 Skipsea Withow Mere, East Yorkshire
Discover the fascinating geology and natural history of one of Yorkshire’s most unusual landscapes, where glacial history has shaped the countryside we see today.
🐚 Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex
Search for fossils along the famous London Clay cliffs, keep an eye out for shark teeth and discover why this stretch of coastline is so important to geologists.
Every Rockwatch event is led by experienced geologists who love sharing their knowledge with young explorers. They’re a fantastic opportunity to ask questions, discover something new and spend a day with other families who share your curiosity about the natural world.
