Cookie Policy

This policy explains how cookies are used on this site, and how you can control the cookies used on this site.  Any changes to this policy will be posted here. We reserve the right to vary this Cookie Policy from time to time, and such changes shall become effective as soon as they are posted.

What are Cookies and Why We use Them

We use ‘cookies’ to help you personalise your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web server. Cookies are not used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. For instance a cookie tells the web server that you have returned to a specific page, such as when you return to our website to purchase additional products and the website ‘remembers’ your account details.

We also use cookies to help us analyse trends, administer the website, track users’ movements around the website and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. This data can be used to deliver customised content and promotions to those whose behaviour indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.

For example, we gather information about your computer hardware and software including  your IP address, browser type, domain names, internet service provider (ISP), the files viewed on our site, operating system, pages you visited on the site, access times and which website referred you to us. This information is used by Rockwatch to provide general statistics regarding use of our website. This data is not linked to your name, email address, address or phone number. We collect this data to help us improve our website.

Our Use Of Cookies

We use both “session” cookies and “persistent” cookies on the website. Session cookies will be deleted from your computer when you close your browser.  Persistent cookies will remain stored on your computer until deleted, or until they reach a specified expiry date. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the website to work in the way intended and others are designed to improve its performance.

We will use the session cookies to:

  • keep track of you whilst you navigate the website;
  • keep track of items in your shopping basket;
  • prevent fraud and increase website security.

We will use the persistent cookies to enable our website to recognise you when you visit the site again.

Email List Cookies

We use a third party provider called Mailchimp to manage our email subscription list.

Mailchimp uses a place single pixel gifs, also known as web beacons, in every email sent by us. These are tiny graphic files that contain unique identifiers that enable us to recognise when subscribers have opened an email or clicked certain links. These technologies record each subscribers email address, IP address, date, and time associated with each open and click for a campaign. We use this data to create reports about how an email campaign performed and what actions subscribers took.

See the Mailchimp website for further details.

Your Right to Accept or Decline Cookies

You have the right and ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of our website.

As the means by which you can refuse cookies through your web browser controls vary from browser-to-browser, you should visit your browser’s help menu for more information. Remember that if you turn off cookies in your browser then these settings apply to all websites not just this one.
