Did birds evolve from a group of Theropod dinosaurs? That now seems to be regarded as a fairly incontestable fact, but there are dissenters around! Mike Howgate is one of them and will look at the various theories put forward to explain which group of reptiles he believes might be the direct ancestor of the avian lineage.

Come along to the Geologists’ Association Lecture at Burlington House in London on Friday 2 February 2018. They are held at the Geological Society, entrance opposite Fortnum and Mason. Free event – just bring your membership card. All Rockwatchers and their families are welcome, but as the lectures are aimed at adults older Rockwatchers will find them more interesting.

Tea at 5.30pm with the lecture starting at 6.00pm.
