Steeple Grange Light Railway carriage with Rockwatchers

What a fabulous time we had on our Rockwatch field trip to Derbyshire! Families joined us for a full day of geological adventures at the National Stone Centre, Steeplehouse Quarry, Cromford Moor Mine site, and beyond.

From exploring the Geotrail and spotting ancient fossils to riding the Steeple Grange Light Railway, discovering shark teeth in the quarry, and hunting for minerals at Black Rocks, it was a day packed with geology, learning and fun. All this while enjoying the beautiful Peak District landscapes and its unique geological landforms.

A huge thank you to the National Stone Centre and the brilliant team who helped make this such a memorable and inspiring day for our Rockwatchers.

We can’t wait to be back exploring more of Derbyshire’s geological gems!
