Join Rockwatch this summer for an exciting return visit to the Somerset Earth Science Centre! This year, our activities will celebrate the legacy of pioneering palaeontologist Mary Anning.
What’s happening?
🖼️ Mary Anning Spotlight — Discover the incredible story of Mary Anning with access to the Geologists’ Association Mary Anning maquette, on display at the centre.
🎨 Craft Activities — Take part in lino printing and fossil cleaning/prepping workshops inspired by Mary’s discoveries.
🦴 Show and Tell — Bring along any fossils you’d like identified or shared!
🪨 Fossil Foray — In the afternoon, we’ll head to the Writhlington batch to hunt for real fossils in one of Somerset’s most famous spoil heaps.
This is a hands-on, fun-filled day that’s perfect for curious young geologists.
