Cross-Channel Geopark TransmancheA free family geology event with the Cross Channel Geopark

A rock may seem ordinary… but think again! Every stone holds an adventure millions of years old — shaped by volcanoes, oceans, earthquakes and ancient climates. Whether it’s been hiding in your pocket, collected on holiday, or discovered in the garden, every rock has a story to tell.

This half-term, friends from the Cross Channel Geopark invite families to Operation: Bring Your Rock! UK — a fun, friendly and hands-on geology event in the heart of the Darent Valley.

📅 Wednesday 18 February 2026
🕙 Drop-in sessions: 10am–12pm and 1pm–3pm
📍 Otford Palace Tower, Kent
🎟 Free entry – open to all ages

What’s happening?

Join them for two relaxed drop-in sessions where you can:

  • See amazing fossil specimens
  • Use microscopes to explore rocks up close
  • Enjoy short, exciting talks on rocks and minerals
  • Bring along your own rocks, fossils, photos or heritage finds and learn more about them from the brilliant GeoAmbassadors
