Go along to the headquarters of the British Geological Survey for their 16th Annual Family Day on Saturday 17 March 2018! The doors of this amazing place will be open to celebrate British Science Week and there will be displays, talks, tours and lots of hands-on activities for children.

  • Panning for ‘gold’
  • Earthquakes – How and why do they occur?
  • Fossil displays and learn about the Rock cycle
  • Visit the 3D theatre and fly over and under the UK’s geology
  • Visit the Core Store – the BGS’s ‘warehouse’ of rock, fossil, mineral and core collection
  • Go on a geological walk of three billion years of Earth’s history

Masses of interesting things to see and do. Well worth a visit.
The event is free and it’s ‘drop-in so there is no fixed timetable.

It’s open between 10.00am and 4.00pm

You must register and you can do that via the BGS website so the BGS have an idea of numbers.

A fabulous day out for all the family!
